Use of Top 6-inch Extension Tubing for Arterial Pressure Monitoring

Recently, the hospital has been supplying the Top 6-inch Extension Tubing for use with our arterial and central venous lines.

Top Extension Tube - Not for arterial pressure monitoring

The Top Extension Tube is not suitable for use in arterial pressure monitoring lines because it is soft and will lead to damping of the arterial waveform.

They have now got some samples from Abbott Critical Care Systems which are suitable for arterial monitoring.

Whenever you insert an arterial line, please make sure that they give you the correct extension tubing. Incidentally, the single Transpac set, but not the double Transpac set, already contains a suitable 6-inch extension tubing.
