Ms.
Irene Quah,
Nursing
Administrator,
Subang
Jaya Medical Centre.
20 November 1999.
Dear Ms. Quah,
There have been occasional incidences where the nursing staff has had difficulty in deciding how to allocate lists/cases to the anaesthetists. We, the anaesthetists, have agreed on the following,
1.
Additional Cases in
Scheduled Lists
All cases added by a surgeon into his own named list, whether they are
elective or emergency cases, and whether or nor other surgeons have added
cases into the list, shall be anaesthetised by the scheduled anaesthetist and
not the emergency anaesthetist..
2.
Replacement Cover for
Saturday 1st Call in the Afternoon
If on a Saturday, the 1st on call has an afternoon elective list, a third
anaesthetist shall be asked to cover him until he finishes his elective list
while the 2nd on call continues to cover the 2nd call.
3.
Calls for Those With
Saturday Afternoon Elective Lists
Those who have an elective list on Saturday afternoons, are strongly
discouraged from asking for and should not be given calls (1st or 2nd) on
those days to avoid the above problem.
I hope this will clarify matters to you. Please inform the relevant staff in both North and South Tower Operating Theatres of the above points.
If there are any other doubts concerning the above matter, please feel free to contact me for further clarification.
Dr. Ngun Kok Wah.
Consultant Anaesthetist,
Subang Jaya Medical Centre.
