Guidelines for Application of Annual Leave by Anaesthetists
(01
June 2000)
1)
One
anaesthetist
will be designated to be in charge of
approval for annual leave for anaesthetists.
2)
To
facilitate the determination of who applied first, members are advised to do
the following,
a)
When
submitting the application for annual leave, members should keep a copy for
their own records,
b)
The
leave application form should be submitted through Satna so that she is aware
of the application,
c)
The
"leave roster", normally found on the white board in the
Anaesthetists' Room in the North Tower Operating Theatre Complex, should be
filled in completely, including date of submission of application for leave,
period of leave applied for and details of locum coverage if arranged for, and
d)
The
anaesthetist in charge must be informed
immediately.
3)
Approval
will generally be on a first come first served basis.
4)
In
general, no more than two anaesthetists should be on leave on normal workdays
without locum coverage. Exceptions may be allowed with the agreement of the anaesthetist
in charge.
5)
If
an anaesthetist's leave is not approved but he feels strongly that he needs to
go on leave, he should speak personally to those who have had their leave
approved to come to some kind of mutual agreement. The anaesthetist
in charge will not be responsible for such mutual arrangements.
6)
In
all disagreements, the decision of the anaesthetist
in charge will be final.
