Dear
Dr. Ngun,
Re: Dateline for Submission of CDM Code Charges by Each Specialty
In
view of the need for expediting the process of implementing a new CDM, Dr. Peter
Ng has decided that each and every specialty will have to submit their proposals
for the CDM by Saturday, 9 February 2002.
Please
liaise with the colleagues in your specialty and prepare and submit your
proposals for the CDM to Norlida, Dr. Peter Ng or myself, Dr. Ngun Kok Wah.
The
proposals should include the following:-
- The
percentage increase to be applied across the board to compensate for
inflation over the intervening years. Please see Appendix A for information
from the Malaysian Department of Statistics concerning the CPI increase over
the last 10 years and also for information on various increases in the
doctor's fees over the last ten years to help you decide on the proposed
increase.
- Go
through the procedure codes for your specialty that are obviously too high
or too low in comparison to the "market rate" even after
application of the above across-the-board increase in fees, and propose a
new Unit Price that is more reasonable and equitable to both the patient and
the doctor.
- If
there are any procedures, old or new, that are not adequately covered by the
current CDM, please make your proposal for the inclusion of such procedures
giving a "Description of the Procedure" and also the proposed Unit
Price.
- Where
possible, in all the above cases, give supporting data to support your
views. E.g. fees charged in other hospitals, fees suggested in other fee
schedules, or complexity of procedure in relation to other similar
procedures already in the current CDM.
Please
note that the Unit Price proposed by you in items 2 and 3, should be the current
market rate after adjustment for inflation. That is, the increase in item 1 will
not be applied to the suggested fees in items 2 and 3.
If
you have any queries, please feel free to refer them to either Dr. Peter Ng or
myself, Dr. Ngun.
Dr.
Ngun Kok Wah.
Secretary,
New CDM Review Committee 2001.
