Dear Dr. XXX:

Subject: Results of Poll on Anaesthetic Proposals to New CDM Review Committee 2001

There were 4 replies. Please remember that those who did not reply are presumed to have agreed with the proposals in toto.

1.      There was unanimous agreement on the proposals.

2.      There was one suggestion that the epidural fees be “higher for after hours”. However, an A charge will be RM 420 and I don’t see how we could possibly get our obstetric colleagues to agree to anything higher. Even this will be difficult to pass through. Admittedly, the corporate C patients will only be charged RM 300 but this is still far better than what we’re getting now. There is a possibility that we may be able to add the New Emergency Callback Charge that has been proposed but this is left to be seen.

3.      2 questions were raised.

a.       What are the charges for fiber-optic intubations? Is this included?
We should use the 575 code (unit price RM 68.48).

b.      Credit card increase should be put to hospital as the 1 % has been deducted from our monthly cheque.
This is true and I will keep this in mind and use this if and when the opportunity arises.

4.      I have also taken the liberty to add a proposal that the CDM be automatically reviewed on a yearly basis based on the CPI published by the government. My apologies for this as I had forgotten to include this in my previous letter. I hope that you will accept this proposal as well.

Based on the above, I have prepared our proposal to the committee. There are two copies. One copy (attached to this letter) is for your records. Please sign the other loose copy and pass it on to any other anaesthetist who has not signed the letter yet.

Yours truly,

Dr. Ngun Kok Wah
